The activities of sanitary landfills go beyond receiving and treating organic waste, moving toward waste recovery, especially through the production of biogas and biomethane.
“The future lies in the energy recovery of waste,” says Hamilton Agle, CEO of Estre Ambiental, echoing the industry’s sentiment. “Even our biogas projects for power generation are shifting to biomethane,” adds Pedro Maranhão, president of the Brazilian Association of Waste and Environment (Abrema).
