TRANSFORMING

THE FUTURE

Methane (CH₄) is a gas with a global warming potential up to 80 times greater* than carbon dioxide (CO₂)*

*when considered over a 20-year time horizon

Orizon's credit projects help reduce your organization's carbon footprint.

We are Orizon

We are a publicly traded Brazilian company specializing in intelligent waste
management. We transform waste into sustainable products such as biomethane,
carbon credits, and recyclable materials. With 17 ecoparks distributed across 12 states, our goal is to safeguard planetary health by reducing environmental impact,
contributing to society’s development.

Through biogas capture, resulting from the decomposition of organic waste in our
Ecoparks, we reduce methane emissions, a potent Greenhouse Gas (GHG), and
generate carbon credits that drive our environmental and social responsibility projects.

Orizon’s carbon credits are a tool for mitigating climate change, contributing to global decarbonization goals established by the United Nations.

Pioneering in Carbon Credits

Each Orizon carbon credit certifies the reduction of 1 ton of CO₂ equivalent in the atmosphere.

We registered the world’s first carbon credit generation project under the Clean Development Mechanism, approved by the UN in 2005 through the Kyoto Protocol: the Novagerar Project, at our Nova Iguaçu Ecopark (RJ).

Offset Your Footprint, Amplify Your Impact

Every day, we manage waste and discarded materials from approximately 30 million
Brazilians, preventing the release of methane gas into the atmosphere.

The waste we receive at our facilities is transformed into:

How carbon credits are generated at Orizon

1

We capture and utilize the biogas generated by the decomposition of organic waste in our Ecoparks, mitigating climate change.

2

This biogas is used to generate renewable electricity or biomethane.

3

In this way, we reduce GHG emissions and promote sustainability through this
process, generating carbon credits.

Certified Methodology

Our carbon projects follow the UNFCCC ACM0001 methodology, an approach widely recognized  for its robustness, ensuring high-quality standards and integrity.

In the voluntary carbon market, we work with globally recognized institutions such as Gold Standard and Verra.

We also hold the ICVCM (Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market) Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label, ensuring the high integrity of our credits.

Open dumps are still a reality in Brazil

According to the Basic Sanitation Framework, approved in 2020, all should have been eliminated by 2024.

However, there are still about 3,000 active dumps, according to the Brazilian Association of Waste and Environment (ABREMA).

These sites receive waste in the open air, without any treatment to protect the soil and environment.
